Martial weapon (Longsword), melee weapon, artifact (requires attunement)
The Blade of the Nomad is the legendary weapon of the immortal Eladrin form of Arjahn, the ancient gold dragon. Born before the dawn of humanoid civilization, Arjhan spent his younger years traversing the young prime material plane, still supersaturated with the magical energies coursing through creation. This blade has razed armies and sundered nations. It unsealed the Tablets of Fate, and drew the blood of Tiamat. After the Thousand Year's War, Arjhan's witnessing of the partial destruction of the city of Fal caused him to foreswear his blade and take up political office until such time as the city of Fal could lead itself once again. It is Arjahn the Nomad alone who can remove the curse upon this blade.
Strength of Ages:
Your Strength and Dexterity Scores increase by 4. Your new total may exceed 20 but not 30. This weapon has both the finesse and light properties.
Warmth of the Wyrmm:
While wielding this blade, you have resistance to Cold and Fire damage.
Weakness of War:
A creature struck with this blade must succeed on a DC 15 Strength Saving Throw or become weakened. Weakened Creatures have disadvantage on Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, and Saving Throws relying on Strength. A creature repeats this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
Curse of the Failure:
Upon attuning to this weapon your mind is filled with visions of a horrific, bloody war, and your heart is weighed down. With every act of violence, the user's heart becomes heavier. For every three creatures you slay, you gain a point of exhaustion. Whenever you attempt a long rest, you must succeed a Wisdom Saving Throw with a DC equal to 15 + the number of creatures you've slain since your last long rest. On a success, your long rest succeeds, on a failure you are restless and gain only the benefits of a short rest.
This blade can only be cleansed of it's curse by the fiery breath of it's creature, causing the following changes to the above properties.
Strength of Ages:
Your Strength and Dexterity Scores increase by 6, not 4. Your new total may exceed 20 but not 30. This also gains the properties of a Flame Tongue blade, dealing 6d6, instead of 2d6 fire damage. The fire damage this deals treats immunity to fire damage as resistance to fire damage and also bypasses natural resistance to fire damage, but not magical resistance, such as that granted by the Absorb Elements spell.
Weakness of War:
A creature struck with this blade must succeed on a Strength Saving Throw with a DC of 20 + the number of creatures you've slain with this blade today. or become weakened. Weakened Creatures have disadvantage on Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, and Saving Throws relying on Strength, can no longer add their Strength modifier to Damage Rolls or Saving Throws until this effect ends.
Additionally, the Blade of the Nomad gains the following property when cleansed.
Aura of the Venerated Warrior:
As an action you may release the fire that cleansed this sword. Swirling golden fire surrounds you, emblazoning you as the heir of the Nomad. For the next 10 minutes on your turn, roll a d6. On a roll of a 5-6, you may use a bonus action to shoot three rays of fire from the aura surrounding you at one or more targets by making a ranged spell attack with an attack bonus equal to your Constitution Modifier + your Proficiency modifier. Each ray deals 6d6 points of fire damage. This fire cuts through immunity and resistance similarly to the fire damage from attacks with the weapon. Additionally, for this time, you become immune to cold and fire damage. After this aura fades, the sword to reverts to it's uncleansed form, though without the Curse of the Failure, until 7 days have past or it is heated by an Ancient Gold Dragon's breath weapon.
